This art quilt was designed for a still life gallery show in Northern Michigan. I used a”sketcy” applique technique for the flowers and sketched with thread the vase, making the bottom where the water would be 3D.
I shibori dyed the fabrics with Indigo dye on white fabric and also a mint green fabric. The color combinations with the two reds of the flowers works really well.
I then free motion quilted around the base of the vase and also quilted in script various descriptive words of the quilt.
This quilt is truly perfect in a nursery or bedroom. It brings joy and happiness into any room it is in!
